rewrite needed?

parts of this page are nearly unintelligible (for example the section called "Unlinked date"); it also seems to make no mention of the fact that linking dates for autoformatting is now deprecated per Wikipedia:MOSNUM#Linking_of_dates Sssoul (talk) 13:08, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
