Assessment
The assessment team focuses on assessing the quality of Wikipedia's Java articles. While much of the work is done in conjunction with the WP:1.0 program, the article ratings are also used within the project itself to aid in recognizing excellent contributions and identifying topics in need of further work. The ratings are done in a distributed fashion through parameters in the {{WikiProject Java}} project banner; this causes the articles to be placed in a set of categories that serves as the basis for an automatically generated worklist.
There is no Quality assessment managed by this project, only Importance assessment. Quality Assessment, even when done through this project, is managed through the Computing/Computer science parent projects. Here is a typical way of assessing an article (in its talk page please):
{{wpb|
- {{WikiProject Computing|class=|importance=}}
- {{WikiProject Computer science|class=|importance=}}
- {{WikiProject Java|importance=mid}}
}}
Importance ratings
Label | Articles |
---|---|
Top | Operating systems, languages, companies, important websites, or anything that forms the basis of all information |
High | Popular applications, architectures, or anything that covers a general area of knowledge |
Mid | Core components of an operating system, or anything that fills in more specific information of certain areas |
Low | Optional add-ons that are not fairly important, or anything that is an obscure piece of trivia |
Importance-rating statistics are sort of 'compiled' for us by the WP1.0 team (See Category:Java_articles_by_importance).
Assessment statistics
We need to discuss WPBanner hooks with the Computing/Computer science projects in order to get specific Quality-rating statistics for Java articles.
Meanwhile, here is another example matrix from the Software project:
