Pieter Godfried Maria van Meeuwen
Jhr. mr. Pieter Godfried Maria van Meeuwen ('s-Hertogenbosch 1899- Ulestraten 1982) was a Dutch Jurist, statesman and a politician. He played an very important role in the Dutch politics.
Belonging to the noble family van Meeuwen, he did the gym in Den Haag and studied law at Leiden University. He became a lawyer in 's-Hertogenbosch and later president and judge of the Court in Amsterdam, Den Haag and Baarn and the Hoge Raad der Nederlanden. He was a member of the National Assembly (1796 - 1798) and belonged to the moderate unitarians, who were advocates of a central government. From 6 november 1956 - 16 september 1969 was he a member of the Senate of the Netherlands and House of Representatives of the Netherlands.
He was also chairman of the Hoge Raad van Adel, chairman of the Senate of the Netherlands, first Lieutenant der cavalerie, judiciary-spokesman and member of the supervisory board Amsterdamse bank N.V.

Private
Pieter married with Louisa Augusta Johanna Maria van Lanschot and had five children. His father, jhr. Pieter Leon van Meeuwen, was chairman of the Senateand his mother was Maria Francisca van Lanschot. The family belonging also to the elite of Baarn, Den Haag and Amsterdam.
