Pieter Maria Frans van Meeuwen

Jhr. mr. Pieter Maria Frans van Meeuwen ((1837 's-Hertogenbosch- 1913 's-Hertogenbosch), was a Dutch jurist, nobleman and president of the court of justice.

Jhr. van Meeuwen was the son of the rich man jhr. Eduardus Johannes Petrus van Meeuwen (in 1846 was he governor of Limburg) and Cornelia Theresia Hanssen. Ancestors of Pieter were bankers, juristen, mayors and CEOs. Pieter grandfather had a very big brewery company in 's-Hertogenbosch and Amsterdam. He was a member of the National Assembly and belonged to the moderate unitarians, who were advocates of a central government. Jhr. van Meeuwen studied law at Leiden University. In 1859 became he a lawyer in 's-Hertogenbosch. He played a very important role in the history of Den Haag, 's-Hertogenbosch and Amsterdam.
