Multicast Source Discovery Protocol is a protocol that allows to interconnect two different PIM-SM multicast domains. This allows PIM-SM to have RP redundancy and inter-domain multicasts.

The protocol is exchanged between PIM-SM RPs.

The protocol is described in more detail in experimental RFC 3618.
