The Diamond Python (Morelia spilota spilota) is a black snake with cream to yellow markings and weighs around 4 kg. It grows to lengths of around 2 to 3 metres long. It lives in urban areas, forests, woodlands and heath of the coastal areas of New South Wales. A diamond python may lay up to 50 eggs depending on varialbes such as temperature and diet. On average they lay 21 eggs. The female coils around th eggs to protect them and keep them warm. This maternal care, which is uncommon in snakes, ceases once the offspring hatch. The diamond python is also under threat of being endangered because of people destroying the snake's habitat. It is nocturnal. Its main prey is small mammals, bats, birds, and lizards and the snake is Non-venomous but can inflict a painful bite. The Teeth can also break off and remain embedded in the victim.
