Afterhyperpolarization

Afterhyperpolarization describes the part of the hyperpolarization phase of an action potential where the membrane falls below the normal resting potential. Both medium and slow afterhyperpolarization currents (mIAHP and sIAHP, respectively) can be demonstrated in neurons.[1] The SK channel is the major mediator of afterhyperpolarization currents, although other candidate mediators have been suggested.
