AnyDoc Software
AnyDoc Software began in 1989 as Microsystems Technology, Inc. out of Tampa, FL. AnyDoc develops, sells, installs, and supports enterprise content management (ECM) software that captures data from scanned documents or images into machine-readable text (and images) for back-office applications and content/document management systems.
Founded by Charles W. Jackson, AnyDoc is a privately-held company which mainly competes with a number of large, public companies. The AnyDoc executive team has average tenure of 17 years working together while the development team has average tenure of 12 years[1]. Today, AnyDoc Software calls itself an industry-leading provider of document and data capture and classification solutions.
Headquartered in Tampa, FL more than 20 years, AnyDoc has won numerous awards, such as Product of the Year (Imaging and Document Solutions magazine, 1992, 1998, 1999; Transform magazine, 2001[2]), Editor’s Choice Award (Imaging and Document Solutions magazine, 1998, 1999), and the ACE Award (ECM Connection 2005-2009 [3]), and appeared on the Inc. 500[4], and Fast 500 lists. The company’s flagship product, OCR for Forms™ (which was later renamed OCR for AnyDoc®) debuted in 1991 after two years of product research and development. The technology was adapted for a wide range of customers and solution applications and includes optical character recognition (OCR) technology.
AnyDoc develops technologies to process structured, semi-structured, and unstructured (free-form) documents, as well as classification, and workflow. Structured documents, where data appears in the same location on each form (such as a credit application or order form), use template-based technology. A template in essence, is a map telling the software where the data is located on the document and how to process that data. While template-based data capture is still widely used to eliminate the manual data entry previously required to process structured documents, it is not a feasible solution to efficiently process semi-structured documents, such as invoices, remittances, and checks. AnyDoc developed AnyApp™ technology to capture the data for these more complex documents and to memorize the data locations for subsequent encounters with the same document types for expedited processing.
