Driver: Parallel Lines Known Information General Info

  • Name Change - Driver: Parallel Lines
  • For PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube as of now
  • Release: March 2006
  • New York City, 1978
  • New York will be more stylized then real life, to make it more fun
  • Known Areas: Manhatten, Brooklyn, The Bronx, Staten Island, Coney Island (with roller coasters), parts of the Jersey Shore
  • 167 miles of road, more than all Driv3rs roads combined
  • Landmarks (not know if these are enterable): Twin Towers, Studio 54 (maybe)
  • No more Film Director due to pop in and slow down
  • 40 Licensed Music Tracks (from the 70's)
  • 20-30 Cars on screen at once
  • Improved AI
  • No load screens, instead access mini games and online in the city, like GTA
  • Still in alpha stages, i.e. graphics aren't ready to be shown
  • 40 Missions
  • "Hollywood Style Car Chases"
  • Time of day changes
  • Able to change almost every part of the cars
  • If you fail a mission, you have 5 seconds to decide to restart
  • Police and Ambulance may respond to accidents that do or do not involve you
  • Map in the corner has icons for places to go
  • Felony bar will now lessen with time if you don't act up
  • Cars will be less heavy
  • Motorcycle physics re-examined
  • Play in New York in 1978, and later in modern day NY.

Gameplay

  • 80 vehicles
  • Garages where you can upgrade cars, even repair and repaint
  • Money system so you can buy parts
  • You can store and save cars, and use them on any mission
  • No Tanner, instead you play as "The Kid", 18 year old driver for hire
  • Open mission structure, don't need to complete every mission (but you can redo missions if you want), and do the missions in different ways
  • Faster Vehicles
  • 80% Driving, 20% On Foot
  • Able to do drive-by shootings
  • No Boats
  • Cops chase other people
  • Fire Trucks running around
  • Garbage trucks doing their rounds
  • Might have downloadable missions
  • Can knock over light poles, but you take damage
  • Working for the mob, start from the bottom and work your way up
  • AI cars will make some mistakes
  • Random shootouts between gangs
  • Random guy threatening to jump off building
  • Online play spans entire city
  • Tune any vehicle (it would seem)
  • "Highly intuitive character control, improved physics and an expansive arsenal of weaponry "
