Pratap Pothen a Malayalee actor is a Tamil language film director who has directed over 15 films with the leading actors of the 80's and 90's His classic movie in Malayalam Yatra Mozhi, in which the legend Sivaji Ganesan and Kerala's superstar Mohanlal came together to give a fine piece of acting, is still cherished in the hearts of the moviegoers. He is set to make a comeback in 2007 with Oru Naal Podhuma.he won the national award for his film 'meendum oru kaathal kathai ...in tamil .......he has acted in over 130 films in 5 languages....two of which he won a filmafare award back to back .....thakara and chamaram.........his thakara is still remembered ...hrithubedham a malayalam film was chosen for the indian panorama of 10 best films of india and won thilakan his first national award as an actor

Early life

Pratap Pothan was born in trivandrum ...his father was kulathunkal [pothen a leading businessman of kerala......studied at the lawrence school lovedale from when he was 5 years old ......and later graduated in economics from the madras christian college...worked uner the great kiran nagarkar and arun kolathkar as a trainee in mumbai mcm .....and then worked in sistas and walter thomphson as a copywriter

Pratap has acted in 130 films and won two filmfare awards for acting
