Now you can have two watchlists. SiteDelta is a watchlist add-on for Firefox (the free web browser). Like Wikipedia's watchlist, you can have SiteDelta keep track of changes to pages on Wikipedia, but you can also include pages from anywhere on the Web and watch for changes to those as well.
How to install SiteDelta
While using Firefox, click on the following link to install...
...the latest tested version of SiteDelta.
Set up SiteDelta to watch Wikipedia pages
- On Firefox's menu, click on Tools > Add-ons > SiteDelta > Options.
- Click on the scan settings tab and make sure JavaScript for site watch is enabled.
Also go to Scan Schedule and enable Site watch which makes SiteDelta automatically scan pages for changes for you.
At the bottom right corner of your browser, on the status bar, there is a triangle icon. That's SiteDelta and your new watchlist. At any given time, if you click on that icon, the page you are currently on will be added to your watchlist. To view your watchlist, Ctrl-click the triangle or navigate the rightclick menu. The watchlist page offers additional options to SiteDelta as a whole. That triangle serves another purpose; modifying the scanning behavior of the page you are watching. Right click it to open the options menu where you'll see the option to ignore specific regions or to watch a specific region exclusively.
Regions
Ignore
Let's say I'm watching a blog and I'm watching a specific post for updates. But I don't want to be notified when there's new comments posted. So I would right-click the SiteDelta triangle and go to Regions>+Ignore region and hover my mouse over the comments section and click to ignore it.
Watch
This is sort of misleading, everything on the page is being watched regardless. +Watch is more like a "mass ignore" that ignores everything except the region(s) you click on. Let's say for this page http://userscripts.org/ I want to only watch the section "Web browser news". Clicking on it with the +watch would ignore everything except that section.
Remove regions
If you've +ignored or +watched a region and want to undo your action, right click the SiteDelta icon and go to regions and click on the region from the menu you'd like to undo.
