The Art of Unix Programming is a book written by Eric Raymond about the history and culture of Unix programming from its earliest days to the current work on Linux. Raymond also utilizes a comparative approuch to explaining Unix by contrasting it to Windows and the MacOS, among other operating systems.

The book also includes quotations and comments from influencial Unix programmers and wizards. In spirit with the free software community, Raymond has made the book freely available online.
