European Association for Computer-Assisted Language Learning
EUROCALL, full name the European Association for Computer Assisted Learning, is a professional association devoted to the promotion of the use of information technologies in teaching and learning foreign languages. EUROCALL was set up by a small group of enthusiasts in 1986 and in 1993 was launched as an official professional association with the aid of European Commission funding, with Graham Davies as its Founder President (1993-2000): see Davies (2000).
A EUROCALL conference is held in August/September annually in a European country. Since 2006 the annual EUROCALL conference has included an online virtual strand for participants who are unable to attend the conference in person. The mouthpiece of EUROCALL is the ReCALL journal, which is published three times a year by Cambridge University Press.
The administrative headquarters of EUROCALL is at the University of Limerick, Ireland, and the current President of EUROCALL is Ana Gimeno, Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, Spain. EUROCALL also has a virtual headquarters in Second Life: http://slurl.com/secondlife/EduNation%20III/9/29/22/
EUROCALL collaborates closely with its sister association in the USA, CALICO (Computer Assisted Language Instruction Consortium).
