March 3, 2009 MontaVista Software announced a new online embedded Linux community called "Meld". to assist embedded developers in connecting, sharing and designing embedded products. This community is open to anyone and thereby not MontaVista exclusive.

Meld differs from traditional open source projects (kernel.org, busybox, gnu, etc.), where developers collaborate to drive a particular Linux technology forward, in that it is a place for developers to discuss how different Linux technologies work together for embedded devices.

Meld is for embedded Linux developers who want to

  • Connect: Leverage the experience of others.
  • Share: Collaborate on information and ideas.
  • Design: Develop products fast with information re-use.

At this point Meld has a total of 8 discussion groups (aka forums):

  • General Discussion
  • Texas Instruments Platforms
  • System Integration
  • 6IP - currently a private group
  • DevRocket
  • Announcements
  • Help/FAQ
  • Wizards
