Really necessary?

Is this article really necessary? Surely an "ASIO file" is self-explanatory? Besides much of this article is conjecture and does little to advance the encyclopaedic content of Wikipedia. DirectEdge (talk) 04:11, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article is well referenced and footnoted and within the scope of WikiProject Australia. As Orwell implied with his invention of newspeak in the book Nineteen Eighty-Four, how many words are necessary anywhere at any time? Frei Hans (talk) 14:00, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

After reading this article I'm ready to put on a tin foil hat. The subject sounds innocent enough, but the majority of the article is devoted to detailed cases alleging government spying on citizens, complete with "advice" and author asides, such as, "At the time of writing this article the author is uncertain what steps Mr. Dixon took...". It really needs a good scrubbing with an NPOV mop. - LuckyLouie (talk) 16:57, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
