The College of Applied Science and Technology (CAST) is one of the original eight colleges of the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). As of winter quarter 2007, CAST encompasses 25% of RIT's enrollment, or around 3,997 students.[1] Cast has been RIT's largest college since 1983.[2] The college was the first New York technical school to offer an associate's degree in Applied Science.
History
In 1973, the Institute College was established with five departments. In 1981, the college was renamed to the College of Applied Science and Technology.[2] In 1997, The American College of Management and Technology (ACMT) was founded by an international partnership between CAST and The Ministry of Science and Technology of the Republic of Croatia, and the Polytechnic of Dubrovnik. The ACMT is the only private educational institution in Croatia that offers both American and Croatian degrees.
