Compute Node Linux (CNL) is a runtime environment based on the Linux kernel for the Cray XT3, Cray XT4 and Cray XT5 supercomputer systems based on the SUSE Linux Enterprise Server Linux distribution. CNL forms part of the UNICOS/lc operating system from release 2.0 onwards (UNICOS/lc was later renamed Cray Linux Environment). As of November 2008 systems running CNL are ranked 2nd, 7th and 8th among the fastest supercomputers. [1]
