Simple machines
Appearance
A simple machine is a machine that will work with only one exertion of force (only one movement). Simple machines are the basis of all of all other more complex machines.
The simple machines are:
Lever
Pulley
Wheel and Axle
Inclined Plane
Screw and Wedge
Each of these machine is actually a variation of one of the two basic simple machines: the lever and the inclined plane.
All machines multiply the effort force put into it, which allows machines to make work easier. This is called the mechanical advantage.
