Syntaxin 3
Template:PBB Syntaxin 3, also known as STX3, is a protein[1] which in humans is encoded by the STX3 gene.[2][3]
Function
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the syntaxin family of cellular receptors for transport vesicles which participate in exocytosis in neutrophils.[2] STX3 has an important role in the growth of neurites and serves as a direct target for omega-6 arachidonic acid.[4] Interestingly a N-terminal cleavage product of STX3 interacts very strong with RanBP5 and may act in nuclear signaling and cell polarity. The helices might play an important role in this aspect. STX3 is the only syntaxin which can lack the transmembran domain. An alternatively spliced Syntaxin 1 (STX1B) which lacks the transmembrane domain localizes to the cell nucleus.[5]
