Allen Sharp

Allen Sharp (born 1932) is a United States federal judge.
Sharp was born in Washington, District of Columbia. He received a B.A. from George Washington University in 1954. He received a J.D. from Indiana University School of Law in 1957. He received a M.A. from Butler University in 1986. He was a U.S. Air Force Reserve Lieutenant Colonel from 1957 to 1984. He was in private practice of law in Williamsport, Indiana from 1957 to 1968. He was a judge to the Indiana Court of Appeals from 1969 to 1973.
Sharp was a federal judge to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana. Sharp was nominated by President Richard M. Nixon on September 13, 1973, to a seat vacated by Robert A. Grant. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on October 4, 1973, and received commission on October 11, 1973. Served as chief judge, 1981-1996. Assumed senior status on November 1, 2007.
