An OCR SDK is a Toolkit for developers adding OCR technology into software applications, OCR SDK provide methods for incorporating Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology into forms processing applications, document imaging management system, e-discovery system, or records management solution to extract some parts or all of the text from scanned and faxed document images.

In order to avoid the difficulties of incorporating Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, most OCR SDK contains a lot of APIs (like ExperVision's OpenRTK contains about 100 APIs), multi Operating Systems support, and multi Programming Language support. As the OCR SDK become more and more mature, it is more easier to incorporating Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to an application which need OCR function than before.
