The Marshall Library of Economics, which is regarded as one of the finest specialist economics libraries, supports the teaching and research activities of the Faculty of Economics. A lending library with over 100,00 volumes of books, journals, statistical publications, etc., it also puts great emphasis on making information available electronically. The roots of the library lie in the Moral Sciences Library created by Professor Alfred Marshall and Professor Henry Sidgwick from 1885. In 1909 J.M. Keynes became the first formally appointed Librarian of the collection, In 1924 the Library was named the The Marshall Library of Economics in honour of Alfred Marshall and in the early 1960's it moved to its present building designed by Sir Hugh Casso.
