Specific Approach
[edit]I would consider SOMF to be one specific approach to Service Oriented Modeling, much like Zachmann and TOGAF are approaches to Enterprise Architecture. I would certainly expect to see SOMF as a child linked to SOM, but not included in the general definition of SOM. Lloydmangnall (talk) 19:29, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
- I agree that SOMF is a specific approach to SOM, but that doesn't resolve the question whether and how it appears in Wikipedia. I think it is a question of notability - SOMF may be notable (=interesting) enough to be mentioned in an article on SOM (along with alternative approaches), but not notable (=established) enough for a whole article on SOMF. --RichardVeryard (talk) 13:20, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- I redirected it. Even the main article is controversial enough, as a narrow topic, that we don't need to repeat its contents here. If there was anything here not already in the other, just add it as a section. Dicklyon (talk) 02:22, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
Merge proposal
[edit]There is an active merge proposal on the page, suggesting a merge to service-oriented modeling; could also go to service-oriented analysis and design. The topics are not identical, but there's enough shared text among the articles to make it clear that they are different aspects and variations of one main topic, and their relationships would probably be most clear if discussed in one article. Article merged/redirected
[edit]Just like the Service-oriented analysis and design article I redirected this article to Service-oriented modeling, because:
- This article was just an other explaination of Service-oriented methodology
- Refering only to other Service-oriented methodology articles.
- So in fact this article was a Service-oriented dead end.
- This article just summarized, what other Wikipedia articles already explained.
If there was any new text with new references, I guess I missed it. It can have been more than one chapter, which might as well be added to the Service-oriented modeling article.
