The Army Correspondence Course Program (ACCP), is a type of distance education and the formal nonresident extension of the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) service schools' curriculum.
Enrollment: Online Catalog
DA Pamphlet 351-20, The Army Correspondence Course Program Catalog is a standard Army publication. The catalog lists all correspondence courses developed and administered by the Army and select Department of Defense activities. The Army Institute for Professional Development (AIPD) publishes a yearly revision of the catalog each October to update the ACCP curriculum and any procedural changes to the program. The entire ACCP curriculum and an electronic enrollment form are also listed at the Army Training Support Center’s Web site. If you have access to the Army Training Requirements and Resources System (ATRRS), you can use it to access the catalog and as an alternative enrollment method.
The ACCP Catalog offers two types of study: individual and group. Under individual study you may apply for a course enrollment or a subcourse enrollment. A subcourse enrollment consists of enrolling in a number of individual subcourses that do not necessarily configure a course. The ACCP Catalog lists a thorough description of group study.
Enrollment Limitations
AIPD's automated student record system limits you to one course enrollment, or to one course enrollment and a subcourse enrollment, at any one time. But, this limitation applies only to the courses and subcourses administered by AIPD. The exceptions to this enrollment rule are listed below:
- AIPD does not administer the courses listed in ACCP Catalog Chapter 4 (Nonconsolidated Activities Correspondence Courses).
- The Combat Lifesaver Course may be an additional enrollment (school code 081, group study only).
- A TRADOC Civilian Leader Development Course may be an additional enrollment (school code 131).
- DOD Security Institute courses can be additional enrollments (school code 553D).
- Courses from the U.S. Army Logistics Management College can be additional enrollments (school code 907).
- The NCO Leadership Subjects Courses can be additional enrollments (school code 553B).
In other words, you could apply for the following enrollments from the courses listed in the ACCP Catalog at the same time:
- One course enrollment from ACCP Catalog Chapter 2.
- A subcourse enrollment from the individual subcourses listed in ACCP Catalog Chapter 3.
- A group study enrollment in the Combat Lifesaver Course, Catalog Chapter 2.
- A course enrollment from the TRADOC Civilian Leader Development Courses, Catalog Chapter 2.
- Course enrollment(s) from the DOD Security Institute courses, Catalog Chapter 2.
- Course enrollment(s) from the Logistics Management College, Catalog Chapter 2.
- A course enrollment from the NCO Leadership Subjects Courses, Catalog Chapter 2.
- A course enrollment from the Army Medical Department in Catalog Chapter 4.
- A course enrollment from the JFK Special Warfare School in Catalog Chapter 4.
- A course enrollment from the Judge Advocate General School in Catalog Chapter 4.
- Two course enrollments from the School of Military Packaging Technology in Catalog Chapter 4.
- Subcourse Enrollment (School Code 999).
Subcourse Enrollments
A subcourse enrollment is accomplished by applying for a list of your selected subcourses (up to 25 subcourses from those listed in ACCP Catalog Chapter 3). You receive and complete subcourses until you have exhausted your list, or you submit a new list of subcourses and continue your enrollment. AIPD's standard for a subcourse enrollment is that you must complete 30 credit hours or exhaust your subcourse list within one year. This year is referred to as your "enrollment year" and begins on the date your application is processed at AIPD's computers. Your enrollment notice , as well as any other notification you receive on an ATSC Form 157 during your enrollment, will have your enrollment year ending (EYE) date printed on it. Also check your personal enrollment information on your notice for discrepancies. This is the time to fix any errors in your name spelling, social security number, or school code.
