Distorted thread locknut

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Wizard191 (talk | contribs) at 00:58, 30 November 2008 (moved Oval lock nut to Elliptical offset locknut: These nuts do not always take the form of an oval, sometimes they are triangular.). An oval lock nut is a nut that has been deformed at the outside end so that it is no longer perfectly circular. As the nut is threaded on, the deformed end is forced back into a circle, holding tight to the bolt and preventing it from turning. Cleveloc, a popular brand of oval lock nut, is a registered trade name of Forest Fasteners.
