This Collaboration of the Month (COTM) by WikiProject Universities is a collaboration effort in order to improve higher education articles on Wikipedia. This collaboration project was originally established as a Collaboration of the Fortnight by Jameson L. Tai in November 2007. However, after the collaboration project drew less activity from editors, the project was suspended in May 2008. The new Collaboration of the Month program began in November 2008, with its first improvement drive kicking off in December 2008.

Current

The current University Collaborations of the Month are
Ohio State University
&
Princess Nora bint Abdul Rahman University

Every month two B-, C- or Start-Class higher education-related articles are chosen for you to improve. Be bold!
This COTM is organized by WikiProject Higher Education. (vote for future collaborations or see past collaborations)
This collaboration is effective: May 20, 2011 — June 20, 2011 until someone updates it.
Pick the next WikiProject Higher Education COTM!

How to help

What we're looking for:
  • Upgrading B-Class articles to GA-Class
  1. Referencing and citation
  2. Coverage and accuracy
  3. Structure
  4. Grammar
  5. Supporting materials
  6. Neutral point-of-view
  7. Well-structured and written
  8. Well-Rounded Coverage of University/Subject area
  9. (See GA/FA requirements)
  • General guidelines
  1. Help verify/supply new sources
  2. Update figures. (Enrollment figures and number of awards fluctuate every semester/year. It drastically affects the accuracy of this encyclopedia to make sure the data displayed in the article is up-to-date.
  3. Check to see if the article is following the suggested WikiProject Universities article structure breakdown
  4. Make sure the article is NOT an advertisement. The last thing we need is a misplaced online university trying to solicit to students through our services. If it is written like an advertisement, fix it. If you cannot, notify us on the appropriate subject header on this talk page.
  5. Remove any instances of academic boosterism.
  6. Be Bold
And most importantly...
  • Have fun!

COTM Article Selection

Every calendar month, there shall be an article that this Collaboration project will improve. Selection process shall be as follows:

  • The second of three articles shall be selected randomly from the B-Class University articles list. The objective of this selection is to improve the selected B-Class University article so that it will be proposed to Good Article Nominations or Featured Article Review.

Each calendar month, a list of ten (10) B-class articles will be chosen out of Category:B-Class Universities articles, in which editors will then vote on these topics. The top two voted topics (not selected) will be retained to the next COTM if more than four (4) editors are in support of collaborating on the subject.

A designated moderator, currently set (by default) to User:Jamesontai, will be assigned to operate the COTM. Moderator assignments will be fixed until a need for changing the moderator is needed and a consensus to reassign the position has been reached.

Nomination Instructions

How to vote

To vote, you have to be a registered and established user with at least one contribution that is not a vote. Anyone who does so is encouraged to make at least one edit per vote or nomination to one of our currently chosen articles. Sign with "# ~~~~" on the end of the list of the article you want to vote for and then update the vote count in the subhead. Opposing votes are not counted; see approval voting. You can vote for as many articles as you like. Additionally you can give a comment in the comment section; use terms such as appalling and shocking sparingly, remember that every editor that has ever edited a nominated article did so to the best of his of her ability.

How the article is selected

Article with the most votes on the 20th of every month will be selected as the following month's COTM topic. If two articles have same number of votes, the older article (judged by earliest edit in article history) wins.
