Mittraphap Highway in Nong Khai

Thanon Mittraphap (ถนนมิตรภาพ) or highway route Template:TNR of Thailand (ทางหลวงแผ่นดินหมายเลข 2) runs from Saraburi to Nong Khai. It was built with financial assistance from the United States of America.

It is the first highway in Thailand to meet with international standards. It was the first highway to use both asphalt and concrete in Thailand. It received the named "Thanon Mittraphap" on the 20th of February 1957. The name translates literally as "Friendship road". It is the main road that connects Issan (the North-east) to Saraburi. It passes through the provinces of Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, and ends in Nong Khai, where it links with the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge to Laos (subsidised by Australia government).
