The Specialist Protection Command is a Specialist Operations branch within the Royalty and Diplomatic Protection Branch, of Londons Metropolitan Police Service[1].

The Command's main responsibilites are providing specialist protection for the current and certain former Prime Ministers, along with other Government Ministers. Certain Ambassadors, and high-profile people who are deemed to be under threat from possible Assasinations, or related Terrorist threat[2].

Specialist Protection Officers can also be deployed at short notice, when information has been recieved that someone maybe under threat, along with protecting certain visiting Dignitaries. The Command is also responsible for carrying out security assesments on civillian staff employed by people and places under protection, along with security risks of the person protected. Specialist Protection officers also offer personal protection advice to people who could benefit from being protected, but are not of such a need that are deemed from protection from the Command, depending on the threat to life of the person under protection[3].
