Simple username changes

This page hosts simple requests for a username change across the Wikimedia network. Requests are processed by stewards and global renamers.

Instructions
  1. Read Wikipedia:Changing username carefully. You must be aware of and understand all the implications of changing your username. Specifically:
    • Your name will be changed to the new one in the page history of every page you've edited, and in all log entries.
    • Your user pages, account preferences, and edits will be moved to the new name. Please do not create a new account or attempt to move them yourself.
    • Links left by your previous signatures will still point to the old userpage; however, a redirect will be created pointing to your new userpage.
    • Understand that using your real name as your username may put you at risk of harassment.
  2. Read the username policy and ensure your new name does not violate it. Usernames must not:
  3. Check that your new username is not already in use by searching for it on Special:CentralAuth. If the name is registered, even on another Wikimedia project, it is taken.
If the target name hasn't made any edits to any Wikimedia project, you may request usurpation at meta:Steward requests/Username changes.
  4. Log in with your current username. Requests will not be approved if the requester is not logged in.
  5. Place your request here.
    • Add your desired username after NEW=.
    • Add a reason for the change after REASON=. Requests without a valid reason will not be approved.
    • Do not change anything else.
  6. Select Publish changes.
  7. Check back on this page periodically to answer any inquiries regarding your request. Consider watching the page so you can monitor updates. Requests may be closed if there are unresolved queries.

Requests that do not follow these instructions or that are grossly malformed are subject to removal.

For stewards, global renamers, and clerks

Only stewards and global renamers have the authority to approve or decline requests. Requests are automatically clerked by a bot, but occasionally human intervention is required, particularly for malformed requests. If you would like to help out with clerking, please see Wikipedia:Changing username/Assistance.

Current requests

Mdipua → Dipu

Before it is moved to usurpation, are you sure you wish to use your real name? Caulde 11:54, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Asked user on their talk page. Waiting for response. —Anonymous DissidentTalk 06:50, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Joel67 → Joel Linn Turner

Bureaucrat note: Can you confirm that you cannot simply register a new account under that name please? The Rambling Man (talk) 17:47, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(NOTE:) The reason for CHU doesn't seem legitimate. --Regents Park (sniff out my socks) 20:39, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Benito Sifaratti → Manuel Belgrano

To check that I'm really that user from wikipedia in spanish, I have made that same statement with my user page in such wikipedia, logged in with that account. It's here and it appears at the end of the page Benito Sifaratti (talk) 19:17, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bureaucrat note: Have you considered choosing a name that has no SUL problems so you can use the same name on all wikis? RlevseTalk 01:01, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There wasn't any name completely free at all projects among all the options I searched (mostly at this project, because of it's number of users, all the good names seem to be already taken). This one was one of the most coherent alternatives I could find. Benito Sifaratti (talk) 00:58, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(Note) I don't think Manuel Belgrano is a good name because of the article already mentioned. Maybe MBelgrano or some such, would be agreeable? -- Alexf42

ronaldluhk → Ronald Lu & Partners

—Preceding unsigned comment added by Ronaldluhk (talkcontribs) 02:53, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This name appears to invoke the name of a company, which is against policy. —Anonymous DissidentTalk 03:45, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not done per AD, you should not register usernmaes which are an infraction of WP:U, in this case, the name of a company. The Rambling Man (talk) 08:15, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Itsmyright → Jeremy706

  • Reason: I actually have both accounts, Itsmyright and Jeremy706. If at all possible, I would like for both accounts be merged into one account.

Itsmyright (talk) 04:15, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clerk note: It is not possible to merge two accounts. Useight (talk) 05:45, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not done per the bot and per Useight. The Rambling Man (talk) 09:50, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Iamrede2da → Hotnaturedman

Not done just register a new account - you have no edits outside this request. The Rambling Man (talk) 09:51, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Brettdicus → Brettdicus

Clerk note: Correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears you are requesting the same name, only with the first letter in lowercase. Due to technical restrictions, usernames cannot begin with a lowercase letter. Useight (talk) 05:43, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, it appears he is requesting a change to the username he already has... —Anonymous DissidentTalk 06:00, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you look at the original request, he typed the requested name with a lowercase. Useight (talk) 14:09, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not done per Useight. The Rambling Man (talk) 09:52, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Trtam → Travisdst

Bureaucrat note: renaming this account would detach it from globally unified account. Can you confirm you wish for us to proceed? The Rambling Man (talk) 10:17, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Would you recommend this? Can I change my username on the meta.wiki too and then link again? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Trtam (talkcontribs) 10:22, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bureaucrat note: It's up to you but yes, you can ask a meta 'crat to change names there and re-unify if appropriate. The Rambling Man (talk) 12:24, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I would like to do that. Travis (talk) 05:51, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done The Rambling Man (talk) 07:21, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sao Luis Gonzaga → Camilla Oliveira

Not done Simply register a new account. You have no edits outside this request. The Rambling Man (talk) 15:45, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Apoorv_khurasia → Geek_103

Clerk note: Be aware that the WikiMedia software will treat the underscore as a space. Useight (talk) 16:22, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Bureaucrat note: Please confirm that the space (rather than the underscore) is okay and we'll do the deed. The Rambling Man (talk) 16:24, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SCBC → Rmaqtgklzxv6752

SCBC (talk) 16:34, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clerk note: Random strings of characters are not the best idea unless you are invoking your right to vanish. Useight (talk) 16:39, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Bureaucrat note: agreed - this is not a good username unless you're disappearing. Please confirm. The Rambling Man (talk) 16:44, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Atbeecroft → FSA67.82

Atbeecroft (talk) 16:59, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bureaucrat note: - you have very few edits - have you considered simply creating a new account? The Rambling Man (talk) 17:01, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It would be very helpful those few edits were associated with a neutral username. Thank you so much. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Atbeecroft (talkcontribs) 17:50, 2 October 2008 (UTC) Rather, it would be very helpful if those few edits were associated with a neutral username. Thank you so much. Atbeecroft (talk) 18:12, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ㄏㄨㄤㄉㄧ → DumGum

Not done - user is blocked indefinitely. WJBscribe (talk) 22:03, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Advocate70 → 2008Olympian

Bureaucrat note: - this rename would result in your local account being detached from your global account. Please let us know if you are happy to proceed on this basis. The Rambling Man (talk) 07:19, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hakob → ACID

TheDilazak → Dilazak1

Done The Rambling Man (talk) 17:55, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
