Simple username changes

This page hosts simple requests for a username change across the Wikimedia network. Requests are processed by stewards and global renamers.

Instructions
  1. Read Wikipedia:Changing username carefully. You must be aware of and understand all the implications of changing your username. Specifically:
    • Your name will be changed to the new one in the page history of every page you've edited, and in all log entries.
    • Your user pages, account preferences, and edits will be moved to the new name. Please do not create a new account or attempt to move them yourself.
    • Links left by your previous signatures will still point to the old userpage; however, a redirect will be created pointing to your new userpage.
    • Understand that using your real name as your username may put you at risk of harassment.
  2. Read the username policy and ensure your new name does not violate it. Usernames must not:
  3. Check that your new username is not already in use by searching for it on Special:CentralAuth. If the name is registered, even on another Wikimedia project, it is taken.
If the target name hasn't made any edits to any Wikimedia project, you may request usurpation at meta:Steward requests/Username changes.
  4. Log in with your current username. Requests will not be approved if the requester is not logged in.
  5. Place your request here.
    • Add your desired username after NEW=.
    • Add a reason for the change after REASON=. Requests without a valid reason will not be approved.
    • Do not change anything else.
  6. Select Publish changes.
  7. Check back on this page periodically to answer any inquiries regarding your request. Consider watching the page so you can monitor updates. Requests may be closed if there are unresolved queries.

Requests that do not follow these instructions or that are grossly malformed are subject to removal.

For stewards, global renamers, and clerks

Only stewards and global renamers have the authority to approve or decline requests. Requests are automatically clerked by a bot, but occasionally human intervention is required, particularly for malformed requests. If you would like to help out with clerking, please see Wikipedia:Changing username/Assistance.

Current requests

Therebellion → The Rebellion

Bureaucrat note: I had to fix this request, as it was very badly mangled. Please confirm that the request as formatted is what you intended. EVula // talk // // 22:35, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Prilep7 → MacedON777

Pfagerburg → Don't Want To Be Stalked Anymore

You want to change your name to that following stalking? This seems to be a questionable username. Crat opinion? —Anonymous DissidentTalk 03:07, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Bureaucrat note: I agree with AD. That's why I didn't do this rename last night and decided to wait further opinion. This is not a desireable username. RlevseTalk 11:56, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, so I'm upset that he won't stop trying; that makes a poor time to decide on a new user name. I will withdraw this request and file a new one. Pfagerburg (talk) 14:27, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
 Not done RlevseTalk 16:29, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mdipua → Dipu

Before it is moved to usurpation, are you sure you wish to use your real name? Caulde 11:54, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pfagerburg → Abandoned Account

While your predicament is appreciated, this account name is very likely a violation of policy, as it certainly has the potential to cause confusion. I'd encourage you to consider an alternate name to change to. —Anonymous DissidentTalk 14:53, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There are plenty of existing user accounts involving the word "abandoned," so how does that conflict with policy? It is my intention to abandon this account completely; you can even indef block it immediately after you rename it. Another user who endured legal threats from this same party changed his account name to "Departed User." I don't see my request as out of line. Pfagerburg (talk) 16:07, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
'Abandoned + account' is the issue here, not just abandoned. None of the other accounts are abandoned. Do you plan to continue editing after the rename? If not, can you choose something like retired_editor or something like that? =Nichalp «Talk»= 16:25, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, agree with Nichalp. If you plan to not edit, we can make it any random sequence or "Renamed user 11" or whatever. If you plan to keep editing, how about "Remote Island" or something? Or you could just stop using Pfagerburg and create a new account. RlevseTalk 16:31, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Withdrawn. What I'd really like is to rename *his* account to "I am a pathetic stalker who can't ever let go of a grudge." And no, I don't plan to edit from this account once it is renamed. Pfagerburg (talk) 21:46, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not done See new request. RlevseTalk 21:47, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ladylolly → Foxhaven

As a side note to the request, will the vandalism and page blankings continue? (example) Caulde 15:31, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not done - when you contribute positively then feel free to ask for a rename. You don't need to be renamed. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:41, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Flayer → NatanFlayer

Not done This name is already registered and has GFDL-significant edits. I would head to Wikipedia:Changing username/SUL with it right now. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:56, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Is NatanFlayer you? The latter seems to have made recent edits. —Anonymous DissidentTalk 02:52, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MirlaLeal → NormanMarlen

Not done Simply register a new account - you have no edits outside this request. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:57, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sherifhedayat → Sherif Hedayat

Not done WP:U prohibits self-promotional usernames per this sort of thing, funny as you are. Also, note WP:COI. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:02, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ABHINAVKAUSHIK → ABHINAV KAUSHIK

Bureaucrat note: please login and confirm this request. The Rambling Man (talk) 07:56, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Clerk note: Did you want this name capitalised? I note you use capitals throughout. Please note that names are case-sensitive. Best, PeterSymonds (talk) 07:59, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In addition to Peter's question, is this not the third request this week? Caulde 15:34, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GymMeetAdmin → Mihju

SoccerFan → Squeaky

Not done User has placed a second request, since this one wouldn't work. EVula // talk // // 20:19, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SoccerFan → Squeaky II

Bureaucrat note: Is there a more "unique" name you could choose? I can very easily see someone thinking that "Squeaky" and "Squeaky II" are the same person. EVula // talk // // 20:20, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Clerk note: I don't think there will be too much of a problem with possible confusion User:Squeaky has 36 edits, with the latest being on August 13, 2006 (and only 4 in all of 2006). Seems doubtful that Squeaky would return. Useight (talk) 20:26, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I did take that into consideration, but it's still a common enough practice that anything named "II" is related to whatever "I" is (for example, see User:Giano II). I'm not putting my foot down or anything. Any 'crat is plenty welcome to perform the rename if they disagree; I'd just prefer to see a less "derivative" name. EVula // talk // // 20:37, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What About "The New Squeaky"? SoccerFan (talk) 20:43, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Clerk note: should be fine. PeterSymonds (talk) 20:47, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at that page, there are some innapropriate usernames. Is that a violation? SoccerFan (talk) 20:51, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, no, not at all. Special:ListUsers is an exhaustive list of every user registered. It's used to check for similar usernames. :) PeterSymonds (talk) 20:58, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I thought Special:ListUsers couldn't display very old usernames? -Jéské (v^_^v Kacheek!) 22:05, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think that's the case. [3] bibliomaniac15 22:16, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) I know the New User Log can only go back to September 2005. Maybe that was what you were thinking of, as I thought Special:ListUsers had everyone. Useight (talk) 22:17, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

 Done EVula // talk // // 21:11, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Benkling → Ben Kling

 Done EVula // talk // // 20:21, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Distrabit → Business Guide

Not done "Business Guide" is vaguely inappropriate (suggests that the editor is an expert in a field). However, you also don't have any edits outside of this request. Just create a new username, rather than asking to be renamed. EVula // talk // // 21:42, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Belvoir15 → Zxcvb09

I now see that the user name I used can be seen when people view these edited remarks and I should have taken more time to choose this username. I use this user name as passwords and this could prove very serious for me. Belvoir15 (talk) 23:38, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
