Atomizer Geyser
Appearance
Atomizer Geyser is a geyser in the Lower Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park in the United States.
Atomizer Geyser is part of the Old Road Group which includes Artemesia Geyser. Atomizer erupts in series. The series consists of 3–5 minor eruptions and one major eruption. Minor eruptions last about one minute and reach to 30 feet (9 m). Major eruptions last 8–10 minutes and reach 40–50 feet (12–15 m). Major eruptions have a steam phase following the water phase.
Atomizer has two 3 foot (1 m) tall cones. One of the cones is the jetting cone from which all water jets come. The other cone sprays a fine mist during major eruptions. This fine mist, resembling the spray from an atomizer, gives the geyser its name.
