(4X) I wouldn't necessarily say that lack of diplomacy should be the primary reason of excluding games such as (...), rather it is the unrealistic *scale* of the games. What I mean is that the scale of the empire building and confrontations isn't realistic, rather it is almost cartoonlike in its scope, with tiny little buildings and gigantic, solitary warriors scampering about at large distances per second. It makes you think of more of an anime about the daily life of sentient ants or something.

I am not saying that lack of diplomacy is *not* an important thing to consider; rather it's just not the first thing I think of when disincluding those particular games.
