The Americans with Disabilities Act was a law passed by the United States Congress to alleviate some of the discomforts of people who had physical disabilities or handicaps. It has affected American business, by requiring that they accommodate some of the simplest aspects of life in a wheelchair. It has been successful in many ways. Parking near the entrance to a business has been reserved for handicapped people, restrooms are larger and easier to enter, and aisles have been widened to allow for easy movement.
