Cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence
Appearance
Cleaved Amplified Polymorphic Sequences or CAPS are used in molecular biology as a type of genetic marker.
CAPS work on the principle that genetic differences between individuals can create or abolish restriction endonuclease restriction sites, and that these differences can be detected in the resulting DNA fragment length after digestion. For more information see RFLP.
