Visual C++ Express (this article refers to the 'Beta 2' version) is a freely downloadable source code editor and compiler made by Microsoft Corporation. This does not include some of the features available in the full version and some often-required libraries but can be used effectively for making software, sometimes not working until additional libraries are downloaded, which can be mostly found freely available elsewhere.
