The Database Task Group (BDTG) is a working group founded in 1965 by the Cobol Committee, formerly Programming Language Committee, of the Conference of Data Systems Language (CODASYL).

In April 1971 The DBTG published a report about specifications of Data Manipulation Language (DML) and the Data Definition Language (DDL) for standardization of network database model. First DBTG proposals have already been published 1969. The specification has been modified and developed in various committees and published by other reports in 1973 and 1978. The specification is as DBTG database model or CODASYL-known database model. In addition, many basic concepts of database terminology where introduced by this group.
