CodeCon
CodeCon is a unique conference for hackers and technology enthusiasts with an emphasis on cool projects and working code. Unlike many conferences that charge an exorbitant fee for attendance, CodeCon keeps registration costs low and the technology factor high. This combination produces an event where interesting and knowledgable people gather to demonstrate cutting edge projects and enjoy high quality conversation.
Organizers
Bram Cohen and Len Sassaman are credited with devising and organizing the first conference at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco. After discussing the various shortcomings of other conferences and the increasing prevalence of market-driods and scene-whores they decided a much more hacker friendly alternative was needed. CodeCon was the result of that discussion which has proven true to the ideals it was created for.
CodeCon 2002
The first conference was held at the DNA Lounge and hosted a number of projects that have received much wider recognition since their unveiling. Some prominent examples include BitTorrent and Peek-a-Booty.
The panel discussions were also thought provoking and entertaining, with the legality panel "Could we be in trouble?" still very timely given the continued actions of the RIAA, MPAA and others against operators and users of peer networks.
The 2002 conference program is available with a list of all the presentations given.
CodeCon 2003
The second conference was moved to a new venue better suited for presentations and audience. Club NV was packed with even more attendees and most of the '02 crowd returning for another dose.
A number of great presentations were given including Mixminion, GNU Radio, and Advogato which you can listen to via the conference audio recordings.

CodeCon 2004
The third conference is quickly approaching. Be sure to clear your calendar for Feb 20th - 22nd so you can attend. The program for this year contains a number of interesting projects that will ensure an event as interesting and enjoyable as the others.
