Ed Perlmutter is a Democratic politician from the U.S State of Colorado. He is currently running for the U.S House seat being vacated by Republican Bob Berupez who is running for Governor of Colorado in 2006. He is a former State Senator having served in the Colorado State Senate from 1995-2003.

His main opponent for the Democratic Nomination is Former State Representative Peggy Lamm. Whoever wins the Democratic Party Nomination will face either Jefferson County Treasurer Mark Paschall, or Current Republican Primary front runner State Education OfficialRick O'Donnell. He is considered the front runner for the Democratic Nomination.

He is married to Deana Perlmutter. Ed and Deana have three Children Alexis, Abby, and Zoey.
