Data can be in the form of an unordered unstructured list or collection, or it can come with a pre-supplied structure as in a database, graph or some other structure.

Structured data analysis is the search for structure that fits the given data, either exactly or approximately. This structure can then be used for making comparisons, predictions, manipulations etc.
