System Simulation (SSL) is a software engineering company specialising in text and multimedia information systems, based in Covent Garden, central London, England, and founded in 1970.[1] SSL software provides support for large and small scale applications on networked and stand alone systems. They develop information products and services for a range of professional and commercial clients.

Recently they have specialised in museum information systems, commercial and archival image library systems, information management and delivery for publishers, news services and professional and commercial organisations. MUSIMS, the museum information management system, supports collections management, digital archives and interactive public access. Clients include the British Museum, London's Transport Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, Getty Images, SCRAN (Scottish Cultural Resources Access Network) and the 24 Hour Museum. They develop content management systems, and CD-ROM/Web products and services for the publishing sector and for information service providers. Their clients include the Stationery Office, Haymarket Medical, Oxford Analytica and UMI. The company provides technical support for the online services of the 24 Hour Museum, the UK's leading virtual museum resource.[2]

System Simulation has made a significant investment in developing software tools and techniques, resulting in software such as Index+, and professional design and build capabilities. Index+ is a text and multimedia database system with comprehensive application development tools including World Wide Web and Internet facilities.

The company has often hosted meetings of the Computer Arts Society.[3]
