Simple username changes

Shortcuts

This page hosts simple requests for a username change across the Wikimedia network. Requests are processed by stewards and global renamers.

Instructions

Read Wikipedia:Changing username carefully. You must be aware of and understand all the implications of changing your username. Specifically:
- Your name will be changed to the new one in the page history of every page you've edited, and in all log entries.
- Your user pages, account preferences, and edits will be moved to the new name. Please do not create a new account or attempt to move them yourself.
- Links left by your previous signatures will still point to the old userpage; however, a redirect will be created pointing to your new userpage.
- Understand that using your real name as your username may put you at risk of harassment.
Read the username policy and ensure your new name does not violate it. Usernames must not:
- be inappropriate, profane, or offensive
- contain libelous, contentious, or non-public information
- be misleading by impersonating other users or implying that you have authority
- be the name of a company, organization, group; or imply that the account is shared with multiple people
- contain emoji, emoticons, or non-language symbols
- contain the # < > [ ] | { } / @ : = characters, among other restrictions
Check that your new username is not already in use by searching for it on Special:CentralAuth. If the name is registered, even on another Wikimedia project, it is taken.
If the target name hasn't made any edits to any Wikimedia project, you may request usurpation at meta:Steward requests/Username changes.
Log in with your current username. Requests will not be approved if the requester is not logged in.

- Add a reason for the change after REASON=. Requests without a valid reason will not be approved.
- Do not change anything else.

Reason: I tried to create a new account with the name seanbcool. The system automatically capitalized the first letter of my name, which I didn't want. I then tried to create yet another account with the same name but in all capitals (SEANBCOOL). I received a message telling me this name was too similar to "Seanbcool", and only then did I realize that Wikipedia allows users to request a name change. Aside from the change, I also give my permission for Seanbcool to be deleted. There is no activity on the account and no reason for it to exist, and I don't know how to delete accounts.

Gwryla

I created the account Gwrila in the Bulgarian wikipedia accidentally at 19:20 on 21 May 2008 and only just noticed (i meant to spell it Gwryla, as my English account is). I then created the bg:Gwryla account also, and please want to ask if you can delete the bg:Gwrila one.

(i have written a deletion request on its talk page, here - and the other account confirms this also: here. The only contributions made by both those accounts are to the actual userpages and talkpages - i don't mind you merging the two accounts' histories into the contribution history for Gwryla - i've left a note on both saying so.)

it simply feels a bit weird knowing there's an account floating out there in cyberspace that'll never be used because it's spelt wrong...and someone else might want to use it in future, anyway. The Gwryla's moral like that, you see [:-)

(there's no 'changе-your-username' option in the Bulgarian wikipedia, we just get transferred to here, as you can see for yourselves).

So, in a word: please delete the bg:Gwrila account, and leave me the other two, spelt "Gwryla".
