JCOP is acronym for 'Java Card / Open Platform'. It is a smart card operating system developed by IBM. The title is originated from standards it comply with:

- Java Card Specification

- Global Platform (formerly known as Open Platform)


As java card JCOP has JVM (Java Virtual Machine) which allows to run applications written on java.
