Disk cloning soft

  • PartImage is a text-mode utility for backup and restoration of partitions. Copies data from the used portions of the partition only; most Linux and Windows filesystems are supported, hovewer (as of 18-may-2008) NTFS support is still partial/expirimental [1]. The image file can be compressed with the gzip / bzip2 programs to save disk space, and they can be splitted into multiple files to be copied on CDs / DVDs, ... Partitions can also be saved across the network since version 0.6.0 using the partimage network support, or using Samba / NFS. Is available on several LiveCDs, including SystemRescueCd.
  • ntfsclone is a command-line utility for backup and restoration of NTFS partitions. Is available on several LiveCDs.
