Local Truncation Error
Numerical techniques are used to determine accurate approximations of mathematical problems. There can be more that one technique to solve same nature of problem. For example to solve "Initial Value Problems for Ordinary Differential Equations" there are many methods including Euler method, Higer-order Taylor Methods, Runge-Kutta Method. We need a means for comparing the efficiency of various approximation methods. Local truncation error of the method is one such mean through which we can compare the efficiency of various approximation methods.
