Conus excelsus, the excelsior cone, is a species of cone snail recognized for its exceptionally long spiral relative to its overall dimensions. This, combined with its overall rarity, makes its shell a particularly desirable one among rare shell collectors. The shell features orangish to yellow patterns against a white background.
Habitat
Conus excelsus is an Indo-Pacific species found principally around the Philippines but as north as southern Japan or as far east as New Guinea and the Soloman Islands.[1] The species is rare but not endangered.
