Traditional Satanism
"Traditonal Satanism" is a termed coined by members of the Satanic Priesthood to describe the way their Covens function ritually. "Traditional Satanic" Covens attempt, whenever possible, legal, and safe, to recreate and imploy practices notorious from the Middle Ages.
The term "Traditional Satanism" predates the term Theistic Satanism as a way to describe a Satanic denomination which believes in the worship of the Devil as a literally existing being. Theistic Satanism was adopted by certain denominations in order to distance themselves from Covens they believed to be fanatics, primarily because of the practice of animal sacrifice, which is widely practiced amongst "Traditional Satanic" denominations. Because of this schism and the considerable increase in Covens inaccurately using the term "Traditional Satanism", the term "Orthodox Satanism" was recently coined in an attempt to clarify the situation. "Orthodox Satanism" and "Traditional Satanism" mean the same thing.
