Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) is the subject matter of Council Directive 96/61/EC of 24 September 1996 concerning integrated pollution prevention and control, a European Union regulation which is referred to as the IPPC Directive.

The European IPPC Bureau organises this exchange of information and produces BAT reference documents which Member States are required to take into account when determining best available techniques generally or in specific cases.
