I don't think the section "A common searching algorithm" is relevant to "query optimization" (in a database context). In fact, databases use multiway external merge sort algorithm which is different from the algorithm (essentially an in-memory merge sort) in that section. 129.94.242.38 (talk) 01:27, 5 February 2008 (UTC) wei[reply]


I have decided to expand this article by a considerable amount, introducing examples and a more in depth coverage of standard techniques in use by state of the art query optimizers, using reliable sources. categorization

if someone can tell me how to categorize this article, i could put it under "database"... >I'm no database expert (hence why I'm looking through the articles) but perhaps this article should be merged with the "Query optimizer" article which links to this one.
