Dynamic multipathing

Dynamic multipathing (DMP) is an I/O enhancement technique that balances I/O across all available paths between the server and the storage devices to improve performance and availability.

The DMP utility does not take any time to switch over. However, the total time for failover is dependent on how long the underlying disk driver retries the command before giving up.
