Climate Counts
Climate Counts, founded by Stonyfield Farms CEO Gary Hirshberg is a non-profit organization that ranks companies based on their commitment to tackling climate change by reducing their impact on global warming, for the purpose of creating consumer awareness and shifting consumer dollars toward climate-friendly companies.
Companies are given a 0 to 100 score based on whether they have measured their climate "footprint" reduced their impact on global warming, supported (or suggest intent to block) progressive climate legislation, and publicly disclosed their climate actions clearly and comprehensively.[1] They outline their criteria for scoring in greater detail here.[[1]] (Climate Counts Scorecard).
Climate Counts publishes pocket shopping guides based on company scores and in keeping with their attitude toward wastefulness, offers shoppers the option of having a paperless version sent to their cell phones.
